As the Assistant Engineering Manager (AEM) you will lead and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the engineering team, ensuring all vehicle maintenance and repair operations are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. The role is responsible for maximising fleet reliability, maintaining compliance, driving workshop performance, and supporting the development and engagement of engineering staff.
- Lead and support the engineering team in daily workshop operations
- Ensure fleet maintenance and repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
- Monitor vehicle reliability, breakdown trends, and workshop productivity
- Maintain compliance with DVSA, operator licence, and Health & Safety requirements
- Support cost control, stock management, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Coach, develop, and engage engineers, apprentices, and new starters
- Carry out quality checks, audits, and hands-on maintenance where required
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership engineering role
- Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and compliance standards
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment
- PCV/HGV engineering experience is essential
