Free Bus Travel for Students in Windsor & Maidenhead

Monday 8th - Friday 12th September 2025

Students aged between 5 and 16 can travel for FREE on participating Carousel Buses services in the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead from Monday 8th to Friday 12th September, as part of a special initiative funded by the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead to support Catch the Bus Month.

Whether it’s the school run or after-school clubs, eligible students can hop on board and ride for free all week!

Who can travel for free?

  • Children aged 5-16
  • Must be wearing the school uniform
  • Must board within the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead

Valid Carousel Buses Services

Free travel is available on the following Carousel Buses routes operating within the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead:

  • Route 3, 3A, 4, 7A, 9, and 52 - full route coverage
  • Route 103 - between Windsor Boys School and Windsor Parish Church
  • Route 127 - between Maidenhead Frascati Way and Knowl Hill Square Deal Cafe
  • Route 37/37M - between Cookham High Street and Windsor Parish Church
  • Route 10/10A - between Hythe End and Windsor Parish Church
  • Route 15 - between Eton Pococks Lane and Eton Wick Tilstone Avenue

Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to Carousel Buses' services participating in the free travel initiative within the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead. They are provided to

ensure clarity for our passengers and do not represent the full scope of the council’s scheme.

  • Offer valid from Monday 8th until Friday 12th September 2025 only (inclusive).
  • Students must be in full school uniform at the time of travel, or be able to show a valid school ID.
  • Applies to single journeys only - return journeys must also begin within RBWM to qualify.
  • Valid on Carousel Buses services listed above only.
  • Free travel is only valid for journeys that start within the RBWM boundary.
  • No ticket or pass is required - just board in uniform and enjoy the ride!
  • Carousel Buses reserves the right to refuse free travel if eligibility criteria are not met.

This initiative is funded by the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead using central government support to encourage bus use and reduce congestion. The scheme is open to young people using services operated in RBWM by Carousel Buses, First Bus and Reading Buses.
