Carousel Buses is offering free travel to all veterans and UK military personnel attending Remembrance Day activities on Sunday 10th November.

The free travel is available on Carousel Buses bus services. The offer applies to anyone who is in military uniform, including cadets, who can show their service ID, a veteran’s badge or service medals.

At 11am the company will also allow drivers to pull into the nearest bus stop to participate in a two-minute silence. Due to parades and events taking place in various cities, towns and villages across the network, the company is warning that there may be diversions or congestion on some routes for part of the day.

Luke Marion, Carousel Buses Managing Director said: “Remembrance Sunday is an important and sombre reminder of the sacrifices made by so many in our Armed Forces and we wanted to do something to help.

“We have veterans working in our business and we’re proud of their service, this is a small way in which we can say thank you and show our appreciation and gratitude.”

During the First World War, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. Every year, this historic moment is commemorated with a two-minute silence on what is now known as Armistice Day.

Carousel Buses is part of the Oxford Bus Group is a portfolio of operating companies owned by the Go-Ahead Group which consists of Oxford Bus Company, Thames Travel, Carousel Buses, Pulhams and City Sightseeing Oxford.
