Timetable changes to improve bus services in High Wycombe area
Today

Carousel Buses has made important timetable changes to improve service coverage and frequency in the High Wycombe area.
A new 35 service is operating between Abbey Barn Park and High Wycombe town centre, hourly via Daws Hill Lane, Marlow Hill and Wycombe Hospital.
An hourly service is being provided on the 38 route between Deeds Grove and the town centre, while the 34 service is operating on a revised route, with buses additionally serving London Road and Hatters Lane before rejoining the existing route at Hicks Farm Rise.
Service 34 will continue to Olympic Way and Orchard Road, while the 34A will continue to Robinson Road and Magpie Wood.
The extended services will be increased to run every 30 minutes all day, with more journeys during the evening peak. These improvements partially replace connections currently provided by the 27 route, which has been withdrawn.
The timetable changes are being implemented ahead of the PickMeUp service in High Wycombe ceasing operations from Monday 2nd November.
PickMeUp has been operating as a one of a kind service in High Wycombe over the last four years, collecting and dropping off passengers to bespoke destinations on demand.
Since it commenced in September 2022, PickMeUp has completed more than 277,000 rides, with almost 5,000 individual people having used the service.
The iconic purple minibuses have travelled almost one million miles around High Wycombe since the service began, and 579 people have carried out more than 100 rides each. On average, the service has scored 4.8 out of 5 from 7,271 rider reviews.
The service received initial funding from the Department for Transport, however that funding has now concluded and the commercial contract with Buckinghamshire Council is therefore not being renewed.
Luke Marion, Managing Director of Carousel Buses, said: “PickMeUp played a key role in helping us to rebuild the bus network in High Wycombe over recent years, and while it is sad to say farewell to the service, I’m very proud of what it delivered.
“We now have a stronger, more comprehensive and reliable network than we did four years ago, and we learnt a lot about on demand transport.
“I’m pleased that all PickMeUp driver colleagues have been offered the chance to stay with Carousel Buses and I’d like to thank all the drivers, dispatchers and colleagues who worked on the service, and the passengers who chose PickMeUp.”
Thomas Broom, Buckinghamshire Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “We have been working with Carousel Buses to look at ways of providing new and improved routes, designed around passenger demand.
“These changes to the fixed bus network will enhance coverage, reliability and service frequency in these areas so residents continue to benefit from reliable and sustainable transport options to suit their needs.
“The PickMeUp trial scheme has confirmed that it is not financially viable to continue but it has provided really great insight, allowing improvements to the fixed network, making journeys quicker and easier.”
