Carousel Buses has appointed a new assistant engineering manager as the operator continues to invest in its High Wycombe depot and engineering operation.

Danny Gosal joins the business with more than 30 years’ engineering experience spanning the automative and bus industries, most recently working on a major project in Saudi Arabia.

A four-year apprenticeship at Honda marked the beginning of Mr Gosal’s career, and he spent a further eight years there before roles at Peugeot and First Bus, where he held engineering and management positions over an 18-year period. He also holds a CPC qualification gained in 1994.

Mr Gosal said: “It was a thorough recruitment process, which I liked and showed that processes are taken seriously.

“There is heavy investment going into the High Wycombe depot where I’m based and a lot is being done to further improve the business.

“I want to support that by bringing all of my experiences, knowledge and know-how to the team, spreading that out and teaching people.

“I enjoy the responsibility of the job. I’m accountable for about 20 colleagues and their health and safety.

“No two days here are the same, but I love a challenge. As long as I meet my overall objectives, I’m a happy guy.”

Mr Gosal spent 12 years at Honda, beginning with a four-year apprenticeship that helped him develop his engineering skills and gain a detailed understanding of engines, gearboxes and axles.

After a brief period at Peugeot, he joined First Bus in 2005 as an Engineering Supervisor before progressing into a Workshop and Transport Manager role.

“Moving into the bus industry definitely improved my perspective when it came to health and safety, and working with large commercial vehicles,” said Mr Gosal.

“It was a really good company to work for and a great investor in people. I was able to grow as a person and develop my management skills, building my overall skill level and knowledge.”

Most recently, Mr Gosal spent two and a half years in Saudi Arabia, working as a consultant for a project management company, helping oversee the implementation of more than 840 buses to the Riyadh Bus Network.

He said: “It was a fantastic opportunity as there was no bus service previously in Riyadh.

“We oversaw, implemented and audited the company running the bus service, making sure all of their assets were intact.

“We were able to successfully implement a 840-bus network and linked it to the new Metro service, helping people from rural areas make urban connections.”

Luke Marion, Managing Director of Carousel Buses, said: “Danny has been a fantastic addition to the team and is furthering our development at Carousel.

“He fills an important position within the operation and strengthens the engineering department. I’m eager to see the continued progress we will make alongside Danny.”

Mr Gosal joins Carousel Buses during an exciting period of continued investment and growth. Over the past year, Carousel has launched a hugely successful bus driver training academy in High Wycombe and also invested in nine new low-emission buses in what was the company’s largest ever order for new vehicles.
