Fare Changes from 1st January 2025

Change in Government Fare Cap & Changes to Ticketing and Fares from 1st January 2025

From 1st January 2025, the Government’s National Bus Fare Cap of £2 for Single tickets changes to a £3 cap. Carousel will continue to participate in the scheme to keep Single tickets capped to £3, although from this date many of our fares will be cheaper than this, especially for journeys in and around urban areas.

From this date, we’ve reviewed the Single and Return fares we charge on our local bus services to make sure they offer fair prices for all of our customers’ journeys. Our comprehensive range of longer period tickets, including Day tickets, multi-trip tickets and longer duration passes available on the Carousel Buses app continue to offer great value for those using the bus more frequently.

The prices of a number of these tickets, including Wycombe SMARTzone multi-operator tickets, have also been reviewed. In response to customer feedback, we’re pleased to be launching a new range of Zone B tickets. These will offer customers making journeys in and around Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross, Amersham and Chesham better value travel options. Not all fares in every zone are changing, and Zone C is remaining the same as now.
The Team Heathrow 10 Trip ticket (for use on services 102 and 104) will also be revised to £25.

As before, Child tickets are available from the driver and Young Person (18 & Under) tickets are available on the Oxford Bus app.

We’ve also withdrawn some less well used tickets from sale to help keep our range of products as straightforward as possible for customers:

• Student Zone A 1 Day and 1 Week tickets currently available from the driver are withdrawn. Customers aged 18 and under already benefit from our range of Young Persons tickets, which continue to be available on the Carousel Buses app.
• ‘The One Ticket’ 1 Week ticket currently available from the driver on The One services are withdrawn, with customers advised to use our range of Carousel Zone tickets instead.
•  The range of ‘County Rider’ 1 Week and 1 Month tickets currently available on service 577 are withdrawn with customers advised to use our range of Carousel Zone tickets instead.

Existing tickets will continue to be accepted until their expiry.
