Half-price group travel for bus passengers in High Wycombe this Christmas

Bus passengers will be able to get half-price group travel this Christmas following the success of a promotion scheme.

Wycombe SmartZone users were able to enjoy a 50 per cent off deal in August, with the offer launched in partnership with Buckinghamshire Council.

The ticket allowed passengers in groups of up to five people to travel for as little as £6.25 when boarding all Zone A routes operated by Carousel Buses, Redline Buses, Red Rose Travel and Red Eagle Buses.

The initiative was such a success that it will be rolled out again for the festive period, a boost for Christmas shoppers.

Luke Marion, Managing Director at Carousel Buses, said: “It was fantastic to see the response and uptake for the group day ticket in August, and we’re delighted to reintroduce the offer for the festive season.

“The ticket represents excellent value for families and groups of friends travelling in town this Christmas.

“Choosing sustainable travel during the festive period is not just cost-effective and friendlier to the environment, but this offer also encourages families and groups to shop together and support local businesses.”

Thomas Broom, Buckinghamshire Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “We’re pleased to again offer this discounted Wycombe SmartZone group ticket in partnership with local bus companies.

“This makes travelling around High Wycombe with friends and family easier and more affordable during December, whether you’re heading into town for seasonal shopping or socialising. It’s a great way to make bus travel a convenient and accessible choice for everyone.”

The discount, which will be available on board and via the Carousel Buses app, will run from December 1 to January 3 inclusive. App group tickets are priced at £6.25, while tickets purchased on the bus cost £6.50.

Wycombe SmartZone allows passengers to travel on Carousel, Redline, Red Rose and Red Eagle bus services within the designated zone in and around High Wycombe, removing the need for separate tickets when connecting between different operators’ buses.

The SmartZone scheme is a partnership between the bus operators and Buckinghamshire Council. All parties help to fund the initiative, with the aim to improve and simplify bus travel in High Wycombe.
