Choosing your ticket
Dedicated school services
If you're travelling on a dedicated school service (routes 600-699), you'll need a ticket specifically for that route.
- Unless stated otherwise, these passes can also be used on all local Carousel bus services at any time, seven days a week - ideal for after‑school activities or weekend trips.
- We understand that increasing numbers of schools are now choosing to make their sites ‘smartphone free’, and so we’re pleased to confirm that tickets for all of our dedicated school and college services are available as either mobile app tickets or as reusable smartcards without any difference in cost.
- Some school services require a specific minimum number of customers to commit to using the service before it will be confirmed. You can see more information on this and whether it applies to your service via the link below.

Local bus services
For local bus routes, you can buy single or return tickets on board, or choose a zone ticket if you travel regularly.
How to pick the correct zone ticket for your journey
1. Identify your start and end points
Work out where your journey begins and finishes.
2. Check which zones you'll travel through
Use the Carousel zone map to work out which zone(s) you'll be travelling in.
- Zone A includes High Wycombe, Flackwell Heath, Hazlemere and Penn.
- Zone B includes Amersham, Chesham, Beaconsfield and Marlow.
- Zone C includes Maidenhead, Slough, Reading, Windsor and Uxbridge.
3. Pick the ticket that covers all the zones you'll travel through
If your journey crosses multiple zones, choose a combined ticket.
- For example, travelling from Zone A to Zone C requires a zone ABC ticket.
4. Choose how long you want your pass to last
Options include day, weekly, monthly, termly, and annual scholar passes.
